Share My Screen – Remote Assistance

As computer and internet users we are sometimes faced with technical tasks that challenge us because of our skillset. Tasks which we believe we could complete if only we had the assistance of an experienced guide in the room. This is often the case with new internet entrepreneurs and web marketers, and the reason Share My Screen – Remote Assistance was born. With me watching and guiding you, you can tackle those Must Do tasks with confidence, or – if preferred, I will do the tasks as you watch and learn.
The remote service, called GoToAssist© is safe and secure. With your permission it allows me to see your screen and if required, take control of your mouse. This allows us to troubleshoot issues or complete tasks as if I was sitting at your computer. You have complete overriding control of your mouse and keyboard always, so you can end my control, or end your screen sharing, or quit the session to kick me out completely at any time. A remote session can only be initiated by you. There is no way for me to connect to your computer unless you accept my session invitation.
Click Select Service from the box below to choose a slot and set an appointment time. At the end of the process you will be directed to the Paypal© website to make your secured payment via your Paypal account or credit card. Once done, you’ll receive confirmation of your appointment.
15 minutes before your appointment you will receive an email with a link to join our meeting session. Clicking the link directs you to the service support site where you’ll be prompted to accept automatic download and installation of a small plug-in on your computer.
Don’t worry, the file is safe. It is a utility that facilitates our session, allowing our 2 pcs to speak only to each other for the duration of the meeting. Accept all the prompts when you get them.
Finally you get a prompt saying “Marcy has invited you to Join a Session. Do you wish to join”. Respond by clicking ‘Join Session’. Fantastic, only now can I see your screen and we can begin working.
You share your screen with me in a 30 minute one-2-one session, giving us enough time to tackle 2 or 3 simple tasks from the popular task list.
You share your screen with me in a 60 minute one-2-one session which is normally long enough to complete several tasks or tackle one or two complex issues.
Being organized saves you time and money. You might remember most of the information you require off the top of your head – like passwords, file locations, web addresses, but if there is a chance you might forget or get muddled on the day, it pays to record where everything is before hand. Here’s a short list of tasks you should consider doing if you are able before our session begins.
Checklist
- download any required software files
- lay hands on CDs you will use
- write down logins and passwords. If never used, test them first.
- ensure your computer has the tools you might need. Eg stuffit or winzip to unpack zipfiles, adobe reader to open pdf files
- bookmark or note webaddresses
- find installation or setup instructions
- shortcut or note the location on disk of downloaded files to be used
- don’t panic if you understand none of the above. We will simply get it done on the day.
